Portland Chamber Music is honored to perform at the Operation Nightwatch 30th Anniversary Concert on April 20.
Operation Nightwatch is a non-profit organization offering hospitality, hope and healing to the street population
of downtown Portland since 1981. Whereas other agencies exist to provide services such as housing, food and clothing, Operation Nighwatch recognizes that the homeless also suffer from social isolation, and has as its simple ideal, to offer respect, dignity and friendship.
Operation Nightwatch began as a small Hospitality Center in 30 years ago in which the homeless an other low-income people could gather with other for an evening of story sharing and game playing over sandwiches and coffee. The Hospitality Center is still the hub of Operation Nightwatch’s activities and now offers footcare clinics, birthday nights, and comedy movie nights among other special events. Additionally, Operation Nightwatch is a place where people can be supplied with blankets, clothing and personal hygiene items at a time of day when no other helping agency is open.
PCM is honored to help raise funds to support this vital organization.
Portland Chamber Music is raising funds to provide music lessons at Operation Nightwatch’s Hospitality Center in the very near future. The beauty of Chamber Music and the beauty of playing an instrument is a skill that should be accessible to everyone.
We raised over $800 at the last concert for Operation Nightwatch – help us double our donations on April 21st. We’re excited to see you at 8 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Tickets can be purchased here.
